Auditions for the fourth season 18/19, with at least six different symphonic programs, as well as concerts in the Auditorium of Barcelona, Palau de la Música Catalana among others, and also the first Tour of the JOSB next October.
Students of all nationalities can apply to take part in the JOSB.
Students must be aged from 16.
Students must study upper intermediate or advanced level of instrument

After submitting the online application form, applicants will be sent an email with their scheduled audition date and time. On audition day they must present:
Copy of Census certificate and certificate of residence or DNI.
Copy of audition excerpt of your own choosing
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of level, musicianship, tone quality, intonation, rhythmic accuracy and expressiveness, according to applicants’ age. Auditions will consist of two parts. In the first part applicants will be asked to interpret their chosen audition excerpt (concert, sonata, etc.) and it will last a maximum of 10 minutes.In the second part applicants will be asked to sight read.Those participants to perform their audition without piano accompaniment.
Within a week after auditions are finished, applicants will be notified of their application results via email. Successful applicants (including those aged 26) will be granted a two-year position in the JOSB.
Membership requires a six-monthly fee of 250 € every year.(July-January)
The Trombone, the Tuba and the Percussion have a reduced half-yearly rate in JOSB).
Unsuccessful candidates may be contacted for future openings and they will be included in the instrumental bag of the Orchestra.
We officially announce our first TOUR next October, where we have been invited to enter the lands of Salamanca, to play in Extremadura in the new Plasencia Congress Palace and in the Palau de la Música Catalana among others. We will inform you and share with you all our “Passion for Music”.
The Funeral March in memory of Rikard Nordraak of E. Grieg and the Symphony No. 3 Op.35 by L.V. Beethoven known as the “Eroica” are the masterpieces of the upcoming challenge of the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, which will feature in this program with the musical direction of the conductor Carlos Checa and will offer two free concerts on February 4th and 5th thanks to the support of the Barcelona City Council, La Sedeta, Mercedes Autobeltrán, Clinica Sanza, Gratacós, and Barcelona Ciudad de Música.

El Mestre Salvador Brotons, director titular de la Vancouver Symphony Orchestra i la Banda Municipal de Barcelona, torna a dirigir la Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona amb un programa molt atractiu, on es podrà escoltar l’obertura del Festival Acadèmic de J.Brahms i la Quinta Simfonia ” Reforma” de F.Mendelssohn.
El concert és el pròxim diumenge 3 de desembre a l’AET ( Auditori Eduard Toldrà ) del CMMB a les 19h. C/ Bruc 112, de Barcelona.

The first program of the III Season of the Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Carlos Checa, will include works such us “Empúries” Sardana by E.Toldrà, a selection of the Suite “The Lake of the Swans” by P. Tchaikovsky and the 9th Symphony “Of the New World” by A. Dvořák.

With the motto “Passion for Music”, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Barcelona (JOSB) was founded in 2015 by the conductor Carlos Checa.The JOSB made his presentation on October 25 at the Foyer of the Gran Teatro del Liceo and it has performed two seasons in different spaces and auditoriums of the city and with the collaboration of guest conductors such as Josep Caballé Doménech, Joshua Dos Santos, Salvador Brotons, Manuel Hernández Silva and Rubén Gimeno.
The JOSB consolidates in this third season 17/18 a musical space in the city of Barcelona with a season of free concerts and with a continuous pedagogical commitment by the formation of young musicians. In this new season the JOSB will receive guest conductors such as Michael Thomas, Iñigo Pírfano and the Maestro Salvador Brotons return’s.
