RAFAEL ADOBAS, flute soloist.

How excited we are to hear Rafael Adobas, founding musician of the JOSB in 2015, now as guest soloist in the last programme of the 8th Season, where he will perform Mozart’s Concerto in D major for Flute and Orchestra, conducted by maestro Xavier Puig.

Brief Biography:

Rafael Adobas was awarded third prize and the Special Prize for Best Performance of Thomas Larcher’s commissioned work at the 2019 Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition, and first prize at the 10th Kobe International Flute Competition in 2022, Spanish-Filipino flutist Rafael Adobas Bayog is part of a new generation of flutists who combine musical creation with other artistic disciplines. He has performed as a soloist with the Copenhagen Philharmonic and the Odense Symphony Orchestra. After a career of concerts on the international scene, she makes her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2022 with the support of the Siemens Arts Program. She studied at the ESMUC with Vicens Prats, and later at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, where she was taught by Andrea Lieberknecht and Natalie Schwaabe (piccolo). At the same time, she studied baroque flute with Marion Treupel-Franck also at the Musikhochschule in Munich.

The master specialist in soundtracks, Marc Timón, will be in charge of conducting these very special concerts that will feature the singers Judith Tobella, main soprano in Disney In Concert; Nerea Rodríguez, the soprano chosen to perform the first Disney Princess anthem; Manu Pilas, the tenor voice of Bella Cíao from La Casa de Papel, and the baritone Germán de la Riva.

Programme No. 4 of the season will take us from the Palau de la Música Catalana to the Cathedral of Barbastro and the debut of the JOSB in the Sala Mozart of the Auditorio de Zaragoza.

Conducted by Carlos Checa, the programme includes a premiere work by the young composer Lucas Altaba, the concerto for two clarinets and orchestra Op.35 by F.Krommer, where JOSB musicians Raúl López and Queralt Planas are the Clarinet soloists, and the Symphony No.4 in D minor Op.120 by R.Schumann.

BLAUMUT commemorates its tenth anniversary with the BLAUMUT 10 TOUR, a symphonic tour that is being carried out together with the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona and the musical direction of Carlos Checa,

The tour through his discography in emblematic concerts and festivals in symphonic version began on 4th May at the Palau de la Música Catalana and on 13th May at the Auditori de Girona with a spectacular success and sold-out audiences at both performances.

Joshua Dos Santos. December

The Venezuelan maestro Joshua Dos Santos replaces at the last minute maestro Ramón Tebar who unfortunately will not be able to conduct the JOSB due to urgent family medical reasons.

The renowned conductor Dos Santos thus returns to Barcelona where he has collaborated since 2015 with the JOSB in three different symphonic programmes and last conducted the orchestra in March 2019.

The Second Program of the Season brings us the fantastic Overture-Fantasy of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet and the famous “Scottish” Symphony by Felix Mendelsshon, two masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire conducted by Carlos Checa with concerts at La Sedeta, Teatre Monumental de Mataró and at the Palau de la Música Catalana, this last concert will be in solidarity with Banc dels Aliments.
