On Sunday, February 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the Auditori of Barcelona, Carlos Checa with the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona will performance a premiere of the young composer Pau Riedweg, “LLàgrimas de tardor”, Aires Gitanos, by Pablo Sarasate, who will play José David Fuenmayor as a solo violin, and Symphony No. 4 in F minor by Piotr Ílitx Chaikovski.
This concert is offered by the JOSB as program No. 3 of its fifth season of concerts, and on the occasion of a solidarity cause carried out by the Pere Closa Foundation. The proceeds from the sale of tickets for this concert will go to an educational project for the children of this Foundation.

The JOSB with more than sixty musicians and conducted by Carlos Checa, starts in October its V Season and will perform a tour with concerts in Huesca (Barbastro) and Andorra (National Auditorium) and a concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana .

Josep Caballé Domenech has recently been appointed Principal Conductor of the Moritzburg Festival (Germany) and he is also in his eighth season as Music Director of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic (USA). Besides, former General Music Director of the Staatskapelle Halle (Germany) from 2013 to 2018, Music Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá (Colombia) during 2018 as well as principal guest conductor of the Norköping Symphony (Sweden) from 2005 to 2007. Caballé Domenech enjoys combining his conducting career with a great symphonic and operatic repertoire.
Caballé-Domenech has worked with prominent orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, with which he recorded Respighi’s “Roman Trilogy” on Onyx Classics, BBC Philharmonic, Tonhalle Orchester Zurich, Hr-Sinfonieorchester, Bayerischen Rundfunk, Bamberg Symphony, WDR Sinfonieorchester, DSO Berlin, Dresden Festspielorchester, Czech Philharmonic, RSO Wien, Tonkünstler Symphony, Belgian National Symphony, Antwerp Symphony, LaVerdi Milano, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Swedish Radio Symphony, Orchestre National du Capitol de Toulouse, Spanish National Symphony, Barcelona Symphony, New Japan Philharmonic, and the symphony orchestras of Baltimore, Houston, San Antonio and Fort Worth, among others. He is also frequently invited to international summer festivals such as Aspen, Texas, Chautauqua, Moritzburg and Granada.
Recognized for his work with operatic repertoire, Caballé-Domenech made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and has conducted the company at the Savonlinna Festival and La Fenice in Venice. Caballé-Domenech has led new productions at the Staatsoper Berlin, Hamburg Staatsoper, State Opera Stuttgart, Dresden Semperoper, Theater an der Wien (with Plácido Domingo), Vienna’s Volksoper, Komische Oper, Essen Aalto Theater, Capitol du Toulouse, Theatre Royal du Versailles, San Carlo di Napoli, ABAO, Sao Carlos in Lisbon and Beijing National Opera.
Recent and future highlights include Wagner’s Ring, The Flying Dutchman, Aida, Tosca, Adriana Lecouvreur and Sweeney Todd at the Halle Opera; Fanciulla del West, Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana at the Hamburg Staatsoper; Salomé, Rosenkavalier and Wozzeck at Teatro Mayor in Bogotá; debuts at Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, at the Teatro Real in a concert with Bryn Terfel; appearances with Nuremberg Philharmonic, Dortmund Philharmonic, Tucson Symphony, Camera Musicae at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, a collaboration with Lang Lang and the Orquesta del Palau de les Arts in Valencia, and a concert with Yo-Yo Ma in the 90th Anniversary Gala of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra.
Born in Barcelona into a family of musicians, Josep Caballé-Domenech studied piano, percussion, singing and violin. He took conducting lessons with David Zinman and Jorma Panula at the Aspen Music Festival, Sergiu Comissiona, and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He was awarded the Aspen Prize from the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen and selected as “Protégé” in the inaugural cycle of the Sir Colin Davis Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative 2002-03.

We invite you to the closing concert of the IV Season of the Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra, on June 16 , at 7 pm , conducted by Francesc Prat .
The concert is free and the program includes masterpieces of music such as the Mendelssohn Opening “The Hebrides”, the symphony No. 10, or the Symphony no. 4 by Franz Schubert.
Francesc Prat regularly collaborates with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the RTV Symphony in Slovenia and the BCN216 as well as being the principal music director of the Chamber Orchestra of Menorca Island and the Ö! Ensemble für Neue Musik. He also works with Basel Sinfonietta, the Nederlands Kamerorkest, the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, the Essener Philarmoniker, the National Classical Orchestra of Andorra (ONCA), the Royal Philharmonia of Galicia, or with ensembles like the Phoenix Basel Ensemble or the Collegium Vocale Gent.

The legendary German conductor Gernot Schulz conduct’s the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona in a workshop at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya on March 20, with works by Beethoven, Brahms, Bizet and Tchaikovsky, an honor for the JOSB.
